Hampshire County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Recruitment
The Hampshire County MRC is a national volunteer program dedicated to building strong, healthy and prepared communities. MRC has more than 800 trained volunteers with medical and non-medical experience. As the Northampton and Amherst vaccination clinics are being prepared, there is a more urgent need for volunteers to help with dispensing efforts. This program is managed by the Department of Public Health to identify local volunteers who can be contacted when needed. In order to be a volunteer, you must register using an online system called, MA Responds. A background check will be conducted.
MRC volunteers are typically used for the following events:
Annual flu clinics
Staffing the emergency shelters
Assisting with an EDS (Emergency Dispensing Site)
Staffing a warming center or cooling center (during extreme weather conditions)
Providing first aid at local community events
Register today to be a volunteer responder by either www.maresponds.org and when it asks you to select a unit, you’ll find the Hampshire County MRC listed under "Region 1"

Give Blood
The COVID-19 virus has caused the cancellation of blood drives across the Commonwealth. There is an urgent need now. The Governor has deemed “Blood and plasma donors and the employees of the organizations that operate and manage related activities” as an essential service. Donating blood is safe and people should not hesitate to give.
Your local knowledge, suggestions of sites, and potential partners are crucial to meeting the needs of our neighbors who need blood and blood products.
→ To schedule a new blood drive contact Bill Forsyth at (617) 699-3808 or at email William.Forsyth@redcross.org.
Those who are healthy, feeling well and eligible to give blood or platelets, are urged to make an appointment to donate as soon as possible by:
→ Use the Red Cross Blood Donor App
→ Call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767)
